Lecture/ Dealer Dem - George Kovari - 20th March 2000
Club Night - Auditions - 3rd April 2000
Tony Griffiths Lecture - 17th April 2000
George Kovari - 20th March 2000 |
| George Kovari remains one of the stalwarts of British magic with his unique brand of magic which appeals to both children and adults. George gave real value for money with a very full evening that was more lecture than dealer dem. With each prop for sale we were regaled with stories and anecdotes from the 1940s onwards. The stories were fascinating for both the older members as well as for the younger ones. The magic for sale was good too! A lovely evening even if you didn't buy anything. |
Club Night - Auditions |
| A number of auditions took place and provided members with a variety of different facets of the magic scene from the plain daft to the dextrous. It was later announced that the successful applicants were: Andrew Hague, Jac Evans, Craig Mallory, Wayne Moore and Vic Tandy. Congratulations and welcome! |
Tony Griffiths Lecture |
| "Something for everyone" is a phrase often used but not always accurately. In this case it certainly was, whether you were into cards, close-up, cabaret, mentalism or children's magic, Tony had a routine for you. There was plenty of new and old material including a ring on-off rope routine, a mindreading trick apparantly using body-language to predict the result, a hand puppet routine and a marvellous diary trick (see January's Linking Ring for this one). There was plenty of other material and Tony's lecture notes were much sought after. Jim Beavis thanked Tony on behalf of the society for providing an excellent lecture. |
